Craig De Sousa is one of SA’s current national export DJ’s. The past eight years in Cape Town has given him a platform to play sets in top clubs around the world. His fusion of 'percussive funk' into house can be best described as organic sounds with interesting changes.
Craig has had residency’s at most house clubs in and around South Africa. These are just some of the venues he has played at Sutra and MORE in Cape Town, Liquid Lounge, Carfax & Sudada in Johannesburg, Automatic in Pretoria, Tilt, Pop Art, Skyy and Monkey Bar in Durban, 52 Parliament & Sugar Rays in PE , Funkey Monkey in East London all have provided a stage to play his music to fans around South Africa.
Craig has supported international acts such as Deep Dish, Jeff K & Tim Paris from Silver Network, Cyril K from Dialect, Bruno Banner & Dj Fudge (Troublemen), Andy Riley & Laurence Ritchie from Drop Music, Roberto Mello from Classic, Ralph Lawson & Murray Richardson from 2020 Vision, DJ Yellow from Africanism, and many more.
He has currently embarked as a radio presenter with Dino Moran as the ‘Night Watchmen’ on Good Hope FM every Friday and Saturday night from 22h00 to 02h00, where they rock the nation with the best house tracks. He has had extensive coverage on Radio stations across the globe such as Radio FG Paris (Troublemen), 5FM (Roger Goode “Surgery”), Y-FM (G-Forces Y-Ask-Y.) Craig has also appeared on The Castle Loud Show with live interview and performance.
Cherry Dipped Studios is responsible for the release of the ‘Deeper Sound of Craig De Sousa volume 1 & 2” which includes his own release “The One” and “Da Phono”. He recently released two tracks on the Asoka son of Dharma compliation “Juice & Russfunk “. His original work such as, “Grand South” & “Point Your Finger To the Ceiling” are due for international release.
In 2003 he toured Paris performing at the famous Rex Club at a Silver Network party with Jef K as well as the WAGG with the Troublemen. In January 2004 he performed in Mauritius, Reunion, Johannesburg & Cape Town on tour with DJ Bruno Banner of the Troublemen. In June he is performing at WAGG Paris for Silver Network.
Craig is the owner of Cherrylick records in Sutra Groove Bar. This shop has grown in leaps and bounds gaining popularity in the house and electro breaks market. Regular shipments give the DJ community in Cape Town the cutting edge in music trends.
